10 MOST Expensive Areas in Cork Revealed

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the most expensive areas in Dublin, but today it's Cork's turn!

CorkWe split Cork (city and county) into almost fifty different areas and interestingly we found that the most expensive area is about twice as expensive as the least! The least expensive areas being located in the North-West quarter - Dunmanway, Mitchelstown and Charleville.

We also found that there are parts of Cork county outside the city areas that are every bit as expensive, on a like for like basis, as prime urban Cork. For example, in the middle of the rankings, Cobh and the North-West part of Cork city are surrounded by the Glengariff area (slightly more expensive) and Bandon (slightly less expensive).

So moving to our list,  in number one position is.......drumroll....

1. Kinsale - Cork's MOST expensive area!

€1.7m Kinsale property

2. Rochestown - Cork's 2nd most expensive area

Rochestown New Development at €975k

3. Blackrock - Cork's 3rd most expensive area

Blackrock's most expensive property at €1.2m

The 4th most expensive area in Cork is South-West Cork city.

And whipping through the final 5 on the list we have:

5th...Bishopstown & Wilton
6th...Douglas
7th...South-East Cork City
8th...North-East Cork City
9th...Cork City Centre
10th..Rosscarbery-to-Baltimore

Next time around, we'll have a look at Galway and see where the most expensive areas in the county are. Do people pay more or less to live on an island? In Connemara? In the city?

Stay tuned!

Really interesting to read those, I take it the figures are controlled for the type and size of house?

    Hi Chris,

They are indeed - in fact, there's a whole property market model underlying these facts and figures. Currently working to bring that up to publishable standard, but certainly property/house type, bedroom number and bathroom number are controlled for.
