We are very pleased to announce the launch of the Daft.ie iPad App which is now available for download from the AppStore.

We spent a lot of time making sure that the experience on the iPad took advantage of the bigger screen and you'll notice after using the app for a while, how enjoyable it is to flick through high-res photos of properties. Maps are also a joy to use and are a great way find property in your neighbourhood.
Since this is a universal app (works on iPhone, iPod and iPad), there are also some improvements included in this version for iPhone users. A new system for managing memory was implemented, which means that there should be no more crashing. We also made some small improvements to maps and the property details page. As always feedback is welcome and in fact is the main driver of our feature set, so let us know by emailing us at support@daft.ie or posting a review in the app store.

Could do with an Android app, Layar doesn't really cut it, cheers!
Congrats - currently diving into the world of iOS app design & development and the Daft.ie app is the best Irish app I have seen yet. Really nice work, well done.
@ronan you'll be pleased to know that an android app is on the plans! It is still very early in the project, but watch this space!
@steph thanks! Best of luck with it, if you've any questions just ask and we'll point you in the right direction!
Well done guys! Fab!
Chop chop with the android app guys. A lot more people have android phones than ipads!
Hey Will,
You're correct, a lot more people in Ireland have Android phones than iPads, but when it comes to people using those devices to visit Daft the figures are a lot closer!
Just to give you an idea of all mobile browser traffic going to http://www.daft.ie since the 23rd July (Irish iPad launch date)
Visitors% (Page Impressions%)
iPhone 57.92% (48.44%)
Android 9.61% (8.65%)
iPad 8.98% (25.34%)
SymbianOS 8.78% (6.15%)
iPod 8.07% (8.55%)
Nokia 1.76% (0.61%)
Blackberry 1.71% (0.50%)
etc..
Users coming to the site via an iPad have the highest pages per visit percent, i.e. look at more pages than any other mobile device and they also spend the longest amount of time browsing the site.
Technically, the iPhone/iPod/iPad app are the exact same application - it has been optimised to operate and display differently depending on the device.
Now that the iPhone and iPad app are out.. Android is now top of the list!
It might be argued that the iphone traffic is so high because of the app. As a non Iphone user, from my experience the site isn't very enjoyable to use on a mobile device, driving most users to the desktop version. The ipad however has a much larger screen and an app making for a much better browsing experience hence more traffic.
Glad to hear the android is on top of your list. I look forward to using it. Although I'm sure I'll have found somewhere to live by then!
Those stats are for visitors browsing the main website via a mobile browser, i.e. they don't include any traffic via any app.
100% agree that the browsing experience isn't the best when viewing on a small screen. A dedicated app can definitely improve the experience.. the figures speak for themselves. Last July there were 35k iPhone web visitors versus 190k via the Daft iPhone app.
Looking through our analytics, the number of Android users coming to Daft is growing fast, hence the reason why an Android app is next on the list.
In the mean time you can try using the Daft Layar app, which is available for both Android & iPhone. It's not as feature rich as a dedicated Daft Android app would be but it works! http://www.daft.ie/layar/
There is also a very basic mobile version of Daft available at http://m.daft.ie
The mobile site is also due to be revamped over the next coming months.
Nice one, well cheers for the prompt responses and good luck with all the mobile web/app development!

I can't get the app working on iPad since updating software to iOS6. Any ideas what could be causing it? Love the app by the way.
